Charlotte, NC- Two children died early Tuesday morning after being stuck by a Sears delivery truck in South Charlotte.
The accident occurred around 8am at the intersection of Tyvola Road and Shady Lane. Charlotte police said that a man was walking along the road, which had no sidewalks, with his three children when they were stuck by the delivery truck. The man and his five year-old son were each pushing a stroller as they headed to a local school.
The delivery driver was attempting to make a left turn onto West Tyvola Road when he struck the family. Two of the children, a one year-old and a five year-old were fatally wounded. The father and other child were not injured.
A witness, Dorothy Jones told NewsChannel 36 that the two children were standing in a gravel area next to the road just before they were hit.
The driver of the delivery truck, Dirk Brown, was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts of death by motor vehicle.
Pedestrians are particularly vulnerable to serious injury or death if struck by a vehicle and may decide they want to retain an accident attorney to obtain compensation to pay medical bills or funeral costs.
Accident attorneys will hold careless drivers accountable for their actions in a civil court. An injury victim can be assured that their accident lawyer will fight to make certain they are justly compensated for their pain and suffering.
