Facelifts and liposuction can make you look younger

As it turns out plastic surgery actually makes a person look 7.2 years younger, according to a new study published in Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery.

The study was conducted by researchers in Toronto, who showed medical students images of people who had facial plastic surgery. When shown pictures of people before they had plastic surgery the students estimated their age to be 1.7 years younger than their actual age.

The students were then shown pictures of patients after they had facial plastic surgeries, which included facelifts, eye lifts, neck lifts and forehead lifts, some procedures were combined. The students determined that a combination of procedures made the patients look about 7 years younger.

The patients were aged 45 to 72 and the more combined procedures they had the younger they appeared. This isn’t suggesting that having multiple procedures is right for everyone and emphasizes that a patient should discuss their goals with their cosmetic surgeon.

The study focused on facial procedures, but liposuction can also help a person look younger by getting rid of fat that sits on the belly and a sure sign of middle age. Fat on the neck and arms can also add years.  Through liposuction fat can be removed from areas that are hard for older people to eliminate through exercise and diet.

When a person has decided to have liposuction or facial plastic, they can consult with a certified cosmetic surgeon and discuss the ways they can look more youthful and more attractive.
