Kenneth Love Appointed to Board of Directors at Carter G. Woodson Charter School

Mike Lewis Attorneys is pleased to announce that Kenneth Love, a bankruptcy lawyer at the firm, has been appointed to the Board of Directors at Carter G. Woodson Charter School (CGWS) in Winston-Salem.  According to the public charter school’s website, the Board of Directors is “a voluntary, priority-driven working board that is committed to honoring (their) history, mission and philosophy to provide every student, without exception, the vehicle and the opportunity to achieve success through academic advancement.”

Love first met Hazel Mack, the charter school’s founder, while working at Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc. before joining Mike Lewis Attorneys.

According to Love, “You cannot work with Hazel without learning of the school.”

After visiting CGWS a couple of times and attending the opening of the school’s new building in 2007, Love was impressed.  In 2009, he first became involved by coaching a mock trial team.

Love decided to become involved with the school because he feels that they approach education the right way.  He believes that CGWS uses every tool that is at its disposal.  The staff actively pursues Winston-Salem residents to take part in the education of their students.

As a member of the Board of Directors, Love hopes to provide fresh ideas for the direction of the school.  As the youngest member of the Board, he hopes to bridge the gap between the various generations of board members and the students at the school.

In addition to serving as a member of the Board of Directors, Love continues to coach CGWS’s mock trial team as well as the school’s soccer teams.

Love believes that every child in Winston-Salem should attend CGWS.

“I have yet to meet a group of teachers and staff that love their ‘kids’ more than this group does.  I am sure that they exist in other schools, but from top to bottom, everyone affiliated with CGWS care for nothing more than to improve their kids every day.  It is an absolute thing of beauty,” says Love.

Love joined Mike Lewis Attorneys in October of 2001.  With a specialty in bankruptcy law, he is committed to providing his clients with important legal guidance to help them achieve financial stability as well as relief from creditors.  The personal injury law firm is proud of Love’s accomplishments both in the courtroom and in the Winston-Salem community.
