Small aircraft hits building in New York, two dead

A small aircraft slammed into the side of a 50-story apartment building in Manhattan killing two people.

The Belaire, an apartment building that is home to many of the most affluent New Yorkers, is located in the Upper East Side on East 72nd Street and York Avenue about five miles from where the World Trade Center stood.

Although two people were confirmed dead, there was no word released on whether they were passengers or tenants.

The Department of Homeland Security did not believe the crash was anything but an accident.
