Sweden’s royal family expanded this week with the arrival of Crown Princess Victoria’s first child. Princess Victoria gave birth to a healthy, 7 lb. 3 oz. baby girl early Thursday morning, her husband Prince Daniel announced. The baby is second in line to the thrown; Victoria is first.
"This morning at 26 minutes past 4 a.m . . . a very cute princess was born. Crown Princess feels radiant, she is so happy. Both the little daughter and the Crown Princess are doing great,” Prince Daniel told reporters outside Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm.
“To deliver the baby is always associated with certain risks, but everything has gone exceptionally well,” he added.
The couple has not revealed their daughter’s name. King Carl Gustaf will reportedly announce the name on Friday.
