Danville, VA- A collision between two tractor-trailer trucks early on Thursday morning has left one man dead.
According to police, the accident happened around 3 am on the Danville Expressway. The driver of a Freightliner, traveling southbound in the left lane on the way to deliver milk, veered into the right lane and collided with the side of another tractor-trailer truck.
The impact of the collision caused the Freightliner truck to go off the side of the right lane and overturn. The driver, Nelson Leon Layman, 61, died as a result of the accident.
The other tractor trailer driver was not injured.
Virginia Department of Agriculture was called to the scene to clean up the milk.
One southbound lane of the expressway was closed while the cleanup was taking place and the accident was being investigated.
