When Peter Hollern* found out that his sister needed to go into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program he was confused about what was happening. For the years previous, he had observed something had been wrong and was starting to wonder if his sister had a drug problem. Not really knowing a lot about addiction or drug abuse he wasn’t sure what to do. As things continued to get worse, he came home one day to witness his parents speaking with his sister about her drug use and trying to convince her to go into the Narconon drug rehab program.
“I recall how upset she was that day when my parents were explaining to her that she had a problem with drugs and that they were sending her to get help,” says Peter. “She blatantly fought with them to go. This moment was very trying for my parents and I was not understanding of why she couldn't see that.”
Because Peter’s parents used the “tough love” approach to get his sister into treatment, she was put on a plane and arrived at Narconon. Through the next few months Peter kept in contact with her and got some time away to see her, once she had graduated the Narconon drug rehab program.
Unsure of his sister’s stability and happiness after drug rehab, Peter was shocked to find that his sister had made a total change. “It was like meeting a completely renewed person,” says Peter. “She had a refreshed appearance and a set of values and ethics that we were ecstatic to see. I can't really describe in words how amazing this contrast was.”
Today, several years later, Peter is a firm believer in the Narconon program. His sister is happily married and he is a new uncle. She just celebrated 8 years off drugs. “Narconon was definitely the answer for my sister,” he explains. “I believe in the Narconon program whole-heartedly.”
