Death Toll for Train Crash in Argentina Rises to 50 with Dozens of Injuries

Argentina- A tragic train crash in Argentina on Wednesday has caused the death of at least fifty people and left a few hundred people injured.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the train which had 1,500 passengers to crash into a barrier at the end of the track at a downtown station.

Passenger said that the train’s motorman repeatedly struggled with the brakes during the trip. He overran some stations and missed one stop all together.

Argentina’s auditor general and others have been critical Trains of Buenos Aires, the company that maintains the trains stating that in the past the private company has failed in maintain the safety of the trains.

In the U.S., an accident attorney would be able to seek compensation for the victims if improper maintenance caused such a tragedy.

At least 703 people were taken to local hospitals, according to today’s tally. Many people including the train driver are in serious or critical condition and the death toll has continued to rise. People must look to see if their loved ones were injured by looking on list posted at the various hospitals were they were sent.
