Madonna and Guy Ritchie have filed adoption papers at a Malawi court to finalize the adoption process of David Banda, a one-year-old Malawi boy.
The pop princess had been touring several orphanages in Malawi the past week sparking rumors that she, along with husband Guy Ritchie, would be adopting a child. Madonna has two biological children, nine-year-old daughter Lourdes and five-year-old son Rocco.
The married couple met with David’s father at the court and spoke for some time. Yohame Banda, the boy’s father, said ““They are a lovely couple. She asked me many questions. She and her husband seem happy with David. I am happy for him. Madonna promised me that as the child grows she will bring him back to visit.”
David’s mother died a month after giving birth.
The adoption of children from overseas orphanages has become a daily headline as of late. Angelina Jolie has adopted two children, Zahara from Ethiopia and Maddox from Cambodia, Ewan McGregor adopted a Mongolian girl earlier this year and Meg Ryan adopted a Chinese girl.
