Chain Reaction Truck Accident Leaves Two Dead in Chicago

Chicago, IL- Two people are dead and four other injured after chain reaction accident involving two semi-trucks, a bus, and two passenger vehicles.

The accident occurred in the southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway when a semi-truck jack-knifed and was hit in the rear by the tour bus, carrying 9 passengers. The semi was able to straighten up and continued driving.

A woman driving a Pontiac tried to avoid hitting the tour bus and was hit by the second semi, which then careened to the left and ran into a concrete median, according to police.

A Dodge mini-van then ran into the semi-truck on the passenger side. The two passengers, a man and a woman in the van suffered fatal injuries. Police are charging the van driver with alcohol related charges.

Four other people involved on the accident suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police are looking for the driver of the first semi, who fled the scene. The wet roads could have contributed to the cause of the accident.
