Pittsburgh Pirates President Publically Apologizes for DUI

Pittsburgh Pirates President Frank Coonelly has issued a formal apology for his DUI arrest stemming from last December.

Coonelly was arrested on Dec. 22nd in Ross Township and charged with drunken driving, driving the wrong way, careless driving and driving with a blood alcohol content twice the state’s legal limit of .08. The nature of these charges makes it critical that the accused hire an accomplished DUI Attorney.

“My actions that evening were irresponsible and wrong,” Coonelly said from training camp in Bradenton, FL, “I take full and sole responsibility for them. There is no excuse for driving under the influence of alcohol.”

Coonelly also apologized to the Pirate’s principle owner, Bob Nutting, and his family. Nutting was immediately notified after the incident.

Coonelly’s DUI charges are misdemeanors. Driving the wrong way and careless driving are summary offenses. Coonelly waived his right to a hearing and will be arraigned in March.

Even though a DUI charge is a misdemeanor in many cases it can have some negative effects. In order to offset some of the negative impact, the accused should hire a DUI Lawyer, who will be able to have some charges dismissed or reduced.

A DUI arrest can result in a jail sentence and the loss of driving privileges, in addition to heavy fines. A DUI Attorney is a necessity for anyone who wishes to minimize the resulting penalties and maintain their freedom.
