Mark Cavendish managed to hold off Thor Hushovd to capture his third stage victory in the Tour de France on Tuesday, finishing the 120.9-mile Stage 10 trek in 4 hours, 46 minutes, 43 seconds.
While Cavendish grabbed the stage victory the Hushovd retained the sprinter’s green jersey but his lead is narrowing as the British cyclist closed the gap on Tuesday. That difference could be made up on Wednesday and Thursday as the Tour de France remains on flat ground.
Stage 10 certainly favored the sprinters but Rinaldo Nocentini retained his overall lead and the Tour de France yellow jersey. The Italian still holds a lead over Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong.
