The Best Chick Flicks To Watch With Your Girlfriend

The team at Elite Daily certainly understands that the last thing you want to be stuck doing is watching a chick flick with your girlfriend. No man is safe from this act of treachery, as she will somehow always find a way to coerce you into watching these puerile films. While we cannot prevent your girlfriend from forcing you to view these terrible compilations of scenes, we have decided to compile a list of chick flicks that are at least less painful to watch.

The solution to avoiding these emotional screenings is to make a suggestion from one of these 6 movies instead of acquiescing to her preference. Trust us, if you let her make the choice, it will be the worst 2 hours your life has ever seen trust us.

6. The Ugly Truth

This one is a romantic comedy, but thankfully it’s actually funny for both men and women. Katherine Heigl looks utterly amazing in the movie, so at the very least you have the eye candy to distract you. Gerard Butler also does a great job playing the role of the brash bachelor who loves women; something a lot of our readers will be ale to connect with.

5. Dear John

This one is not so bad. Yes, it is a chick flick and revolves around a love story, but Channing Tatum is the man and he does a excellent job of acting in this movie. Also, the intense plot and war scenes will appeal to a man’s need for action somewhat. Get the Kleenex out for this one, however, as it tears are likely to be flowing like waterfalls throughout the duration of the film.  Oddly enough, this might win you brownie points as you display your “sensitive side.”

4. Valentines Day

Don’t let the name throw you off guard; it’s not as horrid as it sounds. The film features a cast with an extensive list of A-list actors. Not to mention we get to see Jessica Alba and Jen Garner grace the screen, who will at least serve to distract you from the plot if you are not enthused by the goings on.  George Lopez also has a role and will provide great comic relief.

3. 7 Pounds

This one is one of the safest ones you can go with. The plot is a bit dry and the movie a bit long, but it features one of the greatest actors of our generation—the iconic Will Smith. The movie is filled with great life lessons including an ideal we promote so often on the site—the importance of selflessness.

2. 10 Things I Hate About You

The late and great Heath Ledger is featured in this movie and he does a wonderful job engaging the audience. This film is far more entertaining and easy to connect with than the aforementioned ones. It has an engaging plot detailing the stories of young men and women on the quest for their soul mates.

1. The Notebook

This might surprise you, as it’s probably the film any “manly man” would avoid at any cost, perhaps even proclaiming to prefer death. The only reason it is number one is because, in essence, it truly is the best chick flick out there. Yes, indeed, it does revolve around a love story, but this is a notable one with a great plot. Look, Elite, never a bad thing to broaden your horizons on occasion. Women love this film so much that as soon as you begin to utter the word “note” she will start getting wet and hot in the pants. The movie may not be that enjoyable for you, but the sex afterwards as a reward for enduring her favorite movie will be.
