In an appearance on the Today Show Thursday morning, Zac Efron owned up to accidentally dropping a condom at the Hollywood premiere of the children’s film The Lorax.
Efron, who voices the character of Ted in the animated flick based on Dr. Seuss’ book of the same name, was walking to red carpet at the February 19 premiere when he took something out of his pocket and handed it to his publicist. The condom fell out as he was pulling his hand from his pocket. Efron, 24, quickly picked it up and mouthed “Oh my God” to his publicist. He held back a laugh as he continued to pose for pictures.
Matt Lauer addressed the blunder while interviewing Efron this morning. "There's something that also brought a lot of attention to the movie, Zac, at the premiere. Do you want to take me through it?" Lauer asked.
"I don't want it take you through it," Efron joked. “I never had a pocket-checking policy prior to going onto the red carpet before, but now we fully instated one!”
“That’s a great message to add to the many messages in the film,” Efron joked of practicing safe sex.
The Lorax also stars Taylor Swift, Danny DeVito, Ed Helms and Betty White. The film hits theaters this Friday.
