Caspian Airlines Plane Crashes in Northern Iran, All 168 Passengers and Crew Feared Dead

A Caspian Airlines flight traveling from Tehran to Yerevan, Armenia crashed in northern Iran on Wednesday, likely killing all 168 passengers and crew on board.

 

According to reports the plane crashed 16 minutes into its flight in Jannatabad village, in the Qazvin province. Wreckage from the flight was spread across an open field and there was no evidence of any survivors.

 

Witnesses have said the Caspian Airlines plane just dropped from the sky and then exploded upon impact with the ground, leaving a massive crater in the field and sending debris as far as 200m from its impact site.

 

There have been no reports on what may have caused the flight to crash.
