Arguably the most famous rapper in the world right now, Dwayne Carter, Jr., aka Lil Wayne, was released from Rikers Island prison on November 4
th of this year. According to his
probation documents, the star is not allowed to consume any substance containing alcohol for the next three years. So, at fellow celebrity Nicki Minaj's 26th birthday party, he celebrated while drinking water and smoking cigars, rather than consuming traditional celebratory beverages such as liquor or champagne. He was the life of the party for hours until Lil Wayne decided to leave; driving sober.
While Lil Wayne may not be working a program of recovery from alcoholism or addiction, he certainly is showing that you can have fun and celebrate while remaining sober. His abilities to remain substance free are admirable for any addict. Perhaps young starlet Miley Cyrus, recently caught on camera smoking from a bong at her 18th birthday party, could actually learn a few things from Mr. Carter and his ways of sobriety.
