Bowling Green, OH- Three Bowling Green students were killed Friday in a head on collision as they were headed out of town for spring break.
Police say that a car, carrying five college students, was traveling on I-70 south of Toledo, Ohio, just five minute away from campus when they were hit head on by another vehicle around 2:30am. The girls were headed north to the Detroit airport.
The driver, who hit the students, Winifred Lein, 69, was driving the wrong way. The accident occurred at a crest in the highway so police don’t think the girls saw Lein’s vehicle coming.
Three of the college students, 20 year-old Rebekah Blakkolb, 19 year-old Christina Goyette and 21 uear-old Sarah Hammond died as a result of their injuries. Two of the students survived and were hospitalized with serious injuries.
Lein, who also died, was cited in 2002 for not maintaining her lane. Lein pleaded guilty and paid a $61 fine.
Accident attorneys know that a lawsuit won’t make up for the grief accident victim’s family and loved one face. When a tragedy occurs, people expect justice to be served and in many cases that may come in the form of a favorable financial settlement obtained by an accident lawyer.
Anyone who has been injured by the negligence of another driver should immediately contact a qualified accident attorney to begin working on their case.
