According to a science-based study by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) there are many key principles to successfully treating addiction. Per NIDA’s new release called “Principles of Drug Addiction Treatment: A Research Based Guide,” it is critical to locate a drug treatment program that can handle the specific needs of the client, including their physical, psychological, medical, occupational and legal needs.
With so many different methods of treatment available, it is sometimes difficult to find a treatment option that will fully address all these issues and can also successfully handle addiction. Most government resources recommend looking for a program that has good results for permanent recovery from substance abuse over time.
One program that has an outstanding reputation for fully addressing these needs through components for successful recovery is the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Since 1966 Narconon has implemented a drug treatment module that achieves a more than 70% success rate for permanent recovery from addiction. It does so by addressing all the key treatment needs of the individual as outlined by NIDA.
Clients admitting themselves into the Narconon program must undergo a full physical to assess their personal health needs in order to get a medical approval to enroll onto the program. From there, clients will complete a full withdrawal program under medical supervision and 24 hour care.
Then Narconon program works with the client to fully handle the physical aspect of addiction through a sauna detoxification program that eliminates toxic drug residues that store in the body during drug use. This unique detox has been found to greatly reduce physical drug cravings. Once this is complete, the Narconon program provides life skills therapy to locate and handle the psychological components of addiction and get to the underlying reasons why the person started using drugs in the first place. Handling these past problems and learning problem solving life skills allows individuals to successfully engage in life without the use of drugs and/or alcohol.
Once a client has successfully completed their treatment through Narconon, they can also apply for the Narconon training program where they can receive full training to work at a Narconon center in many different areas.
Like many drug rehabilitation programs, Narconon will at times treat clients that have a history of legal difficulties as a result of their substance abuse issues. Narconon staff work with the courts to provide treatment options and meet the legal criteria necessary to fully treat the client and aid in the resolution of legal difficulties.
Drug treatment programs typically utilize different components for recovery but the Narconon drug rehab program incorporates all the elements recommended by NIDA for successful treatment.
