UPS truck driver seriously injured after his delivery truck had a collision with a semi-tractor trailer early Monday morning.
According to Indiana State Police, the UPS truck was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 around 6:30a.m. when the driver Michael Collins,29, lost control and skidded on the icy road. He crossed the center line and struck the front end of a semi-truck.
The semi-truck driver Donald R. Hinkle Jr., 50, traveling eastbound attempted to avoid collision by swerving to the right into a ditch. He was not able to avoid collision and the UPS truck hit the front corner of the semi, causing extensive damage to the UPS truck.
Collins was seriously injured and had to flown to University Hospital in Cincinnati. His condition is unknown at this time.
Hinkle was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The accident is still under investigation, but weather appears to be a contributing factor.
