Steve Bridges, an actor known for his impersonations of political figures like President George W. Bush and President Bill Clinton, has died. His death was announced in a statement on his website.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Steve Bridges. His passing comes as a shock to all of us. The cause of death is not known at this time, but we will publish more information as it becomes available. Steve brought joy and laughter to millions and was a great inspiration to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed. Our prayers go to his family at this time,” the statement reads.
Bridges’ body was found in his Los Angeles home Saturday by a maid. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office said foul play is not suspected and it appears the 48-year-old died of natural causes. An autopsy will be performed.
Bridges is perhaps best known for impersonating President Bush in a comic routine alongside the real President Bush at the 2006 White House Correspondents Dinner. Since then, the actor has frequently appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. He has also impersonated California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and President Barack Obama.
Bridges is survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
