Tour de France Stage 11 Results: Cavendish Does it Again, Takes Fourth Stage of Tour while Nocentini Keeps Yellow Jersey

Mark Cavendish captured his fourth stage victory in the 2009 Tour de France, winning the 119-mile Stage 11 trek from Vatan to Saint-Fargeau by half a bike length ahead of Tyler Farrar to capture the green jersey and tie a British record for career stage victories with eight.

Cavendish earned a win on Tuesday as well and could take Thursday’s Stage 12 as the flat surface favors the sprinter.

While Cavendish could celebrate his fourth stage win the overall lead in the Tour de France remains on the bike of Italy’s Rinaldo Nocentini who finished in the main pack with his closest rivals Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong. Contador currently sits six seconds back while Armstrong, a seve-time Tour de France winner, is eight seconds behind Nocentini.
