Ted Williams daughter speaks out

Ted Williams memorabilia

After the death of Ted Williams seven years ago his daughter Claudia rarely spoke about anything including sensitive situations like the controversy surrounding the preservation of her father’s remains.  Many are used to hearing from her brother John Henry.  John Henry did a lot of public appearances and spoke on behalf of his father.  He also ran his father’s business.  Unfortunately he died in 2004.

HBO recently made a new documentary called “Ted Williams: There Goes the Greatest Hitter That Ever Lives.”  Many would have expected his daughter to discuss the legacy her father left behind and some of his teammates.  Instead she discusses personal and private manners.  She talks about the up and down relationship between her parents, and her father’s personality.  She says “It was like two chemicals hitting each other in the chemistry lab.  I mean it either was an explosion or wonderful creation,” referring to her parents relationship.  She also went on to say “It was hard to keep up with his emotions.  But you needed to be a duck and let that water roll off your back.  And it took a while to learn that.  O f course it’s tough for a little kid to get yelled at and then five minutes later we get one of these, meaning ‘I wanna kiss from you,’ and everything’s fine.”  For more information be sure to watch the special on HBO.
