One driver killed and another faces charges in semi-truck accident

San Antonio, TX- One driver is dead and another faces criminal charges after a collision involving two semi-trucks and a passenger truck.

The accident happened Monday around 12:30 p.m. on Northeast Loop 410 near Dietrich Road, causing delays for several hours.

The driver of a white semi-truck slammed into the rear of a blue semi-truck that was stopped in the fast lane. The impact of the crash crumpled the cab of the white semi, killing the driver.

A passenger truck ran into the back of the white semi and sustained minor injuries.

Police took the driver of the blue semi, which had stopped into custody, he sustained minor injuries and will be charged with criminally negligent homicide.  The driver told police that he suddenly stopped in the lane because of mechanical problems, but witnesses told police he had just been cut off by another driver.
