Shopping for Baby Products is Fun Again with LELA

Lela is a new web and mobile platform designed to help new parents find baby products that are perfect for their growing family. Launched earlier this month from New York City, Lela uses a brief test to determine what makes new parents tick. The Lela Compatibility Test acts as a personal shopping assistant, syncing the way parents live with a purchase that’s just right for them. Whether they're been hunting for a functional stroller or a charming crib, Lela knows what’s best.

The Lela team is made up of moms and dads who discovered a shared frustration: shopping for baby products in a crowded marketplace. Picking the best car seat, for example, typically sends new parents through a flood of options, overwhelmed by conflicting user reviews and advertising. It’s easy and expensive to make the wrong decision. Lela cuts through the clutter, narrowing down product options to a concise list so new parents can spend less time shopping, and more time being a parent.

It all starts with Lela’s Compatibility Test, designed to determine a parent’s unique needs, wants, and personal preferences. The one-time test asks a handful of brief questions to identify which product features are most important for parents and children. For example, if a parent is shopping for a stroller, it matters whether that parent live in a city and take the subway often, or if they have twins and are a frequent traveler. Facts like these, pulled from the Compatibility Test, are used to finds products that will please parents best meaning, out of thousands of strollers, Lela can find the one that will fit new parents best.

Lela currently features strollers, cribs, and car seats – from high end to perfectly priced. New baby products will be added each week: baby monitors, infant carriers, and high chairs are next to come. iPhone App
Lela will soon be launching an iPhone app (followed by Android) to help parents while they’re shopping on the street or in the mall. The app will enable consumers to determine which products are best for them, or where to find them nearby at the best price.

Lela Local
Lela also has plans to start a program called Lela Local, partnering with leading baby stores in major cities. The flagship program will launch in New York City in time for the holiday shopping season.
