Toyota Manufacturing Flaws Cause 700,000 Recalls in the U.S.

Toyota became the number one automobile manufacturer on the global market because of the safety and reliability of their vehicles. But the company has been plagued with safety issues and today released a recall for 700,000 autos is the U.S.

The models affected by today’s recall includes 495,000 Tacoma models made between 2005 and 2009 for flaws in the steering wheel spiral cable assemblies which could eventually create friction and cause the cables to snap and prevent airbag deployment.

Toyota also issued a recall for Camry sedans made in 2009 and Venza crossovers made between 2009 and 2011 to replace stop lamp switches.

Over the past three years, Toyota has recalled over 10 million vehicles for various manufacturing faults. The car manufacturer has been hit with lawsuits, filed by accident attorneys and the victims they represent, over safety flaws.

Toyota was also fined $32 million by the U.S. government for failing to swiftly recall vehicles with steering and braking issues.

Some manufacturing defects won’t be the cause of a tragic accident, but there are others that can cause fatal accidents. Toyota was hit with a lawsuit after a California Highway Patrol officer and his family died after an accelerator pedal got stuck in a Lexus ES 350 model.

When a tragedy occurs, an accident lawyer will work to prove if what caused the accident. If negligence on the part of another driver or an auto manufacturer leads to death or injury, an accident attorney will fight to get the victims much deserved compensation.
