BOB GIBSON SHEDS LIGHT ON EXTENT OF STEROID ABUSE IN BASEBALL
Bob Gibson Candidly Discusses Steroid Abuse and Baseball
This week’s past All-Star game shed light on a subject that has been plaguing baseball the past few years. Bob Gibson, former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher and legendary hall-of-famer, did an interview on ESPN’s “Mike and Mike” radio show Tuesday morning and touched on the steroid abuse issue among current ball players.
The former baseball star related steroid abuse to cheating by saying “Guys have always been cheating. Period. It just takes a little different form today.” Gibson also took a stance on the controversial question about whether known steroid-users should be allowed in the Hall of Fame, in which his response was “Oh yeah, I think so.”
Steroid abuse had previously been overlooked as a major substance-abuse problem until recent years when famous baseball players have brought it into the limelight. Anabolic Steroid abuse is a severe problem just like any other drug problem out there. The consequences of steroid use can lead to unattractive physical changes, depression and even death.
