NFL week 7 Sunday games come to an end. Raiders win their first game of the season beating Arizona.
Randy Moss and the Oakland Raiders got their first win over Arizona. Moss had 7 catches with 1 touchdown in the 22 -9 victory. Matt Leinart threw 2 interceptions while Edgerrin James was held to 34 yards on 13 carries.
The Atlanta Falcons were led by Michael Vick for a record day with 4 touchdown passes the most by Vick in his career. The Steelers who are now 2-4 after losing in overtime on a 32 yard field goal by Morten Anderson. Charlie Batch came in to replace Roethlisberger after he left the game with an injury. Combined the Steeler QB’s threw for 418 yards, 5 touchdowns with no INT’s which was not enough to beat the Falcons and Vick..
The Patriots led by Tom Brady beat the Bills easily 28-6 . The Charges QB Rivers threw for 266 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs who were able to hold off the Charges for a 3 point victory. Donovan McNabb may be wishing him and Terrel Owens would have figured out a way to coexist as the Eagles fell to the Tampa Buccaneers 23-21 on the last play of the game. The Bucs gave place kicker Bryant the chance to win the game and he drilled a 62-yard field goal the second longest in NFL history to wrap up the 2nd victory for the Bucs, both coming under quarterback Gradkowski, Chris Simms’ replacement.
The question for the AFC East is are the New York Jets for real, matching their victory total for all of last year in week 7 with their 4th. The Jets handed the Detroit Lions their 6th loss in 7 games. The rushing game was led by Washington with 129 yards, and Pennington was solid with 189 yards going 16/22 with a TD and 1 INT against Jon Kitna and the Lions.
Other teams that were winners today are Houston over Jacksonville 27-7, Bengals over the Panther where the magic of Steve Smith ended today. The Broncos and Jake Plummer won over the Browns . Plummer threw 41 times he had a total of 209 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT, Charlie Frye was held to 149 yards dropping the Browns to 1-5 falling 17-7 to Denver.
The Packers beat the Dolphins by 10 as Brett Favre connected on 2 TD’s matching Joey Harrington with TD’s while Harrington led the way with 3 INT’s on 62 passing attempts. Sounds more like a pitch count the Tigers and Cards will be watching for tonight in game 2 of the MLB World Series as Rogers matches up against Weaver.
