Kimberly Buffington-Quaid filed for divorce last Friday from actor Dennis Quaid citing a “conflicting of personalities,” according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
Kimberly was listed as the petitioner, the court documents attributes the failure of the nuptials to “discord or conflict of personalities…. that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”
The couple has two twin 4 year-old children who they will share custody of. The twins almost died right after they were born in 2007 when they were given an overdose of heparin at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The Quaid’s filed a lawsuit against the hospital and drug manufacturer, which they won for $750,000.
Kimberly is asking that the total assets be divided fairly and that her divorce attorney fees are paid, but TMZ noted that in Dennis’s petition he requested she get walk away with nothing. However a statement was issued later that says, “Contrary to what has been reported, a satisfactory settlement is being worked out for both parties.”
Currently, Kimberly gets their main residence and the Mercedes while Dennis gets a condo and an Escalade.
This is the third divorce for Dennis, who was married to Meg Ryan and P.J. Soles. Whether it is the first or third marriage, the parties involved should each hire an experienced divorce lawyer to help them reach an agreeable settlement.
With the advice of a divorce attorney, it will be easier to determine the issues of child custody and division of mutual assets.
