MICHAEL JACKSON COULD HAVE BEEN SAVED BY INTERVENTION
Jackson's Death Could Have Been Avoided If His Struggle Wasn't Overlooked
Reports claim that Michael Jackson for years had been “doctor shopping,” a term which means someone has been going from doctor-to-doctor, collecting multiple prescriptions for the same controlled medications. Allegedly, Jackson did not just go to different doctors, he supposedly reached out beyond his team of doctors and used dentists as well in an effort to fulfill his need for prescription drugs and painkillers.
The Las Vegas Review Journal specifically named an instance where Jackson ordered a Nevada doctor to his Mirage suite to administer prescriptions for Jackson’s alleged sore throat and cough. When the doctor did not notice any visible signs of any ailment, Jackson’s bodyguards allegedly used intimidation tactics to pressure the doctor into writing the prescriptions for Jackson.
Jackson exhibited all the signs of a person struggling with substance abuse. Doctor shopping, along with other suspicious behaviors, are all examples of warning signs that were overlooked by those closest to the pop star. However, sometimes those closest to someone struggling with substance abuse can enable addictive behaviors, because they feel as though that is their way of rescuing or protecting them. If only those around Jackson would have noticed the warning signs sooner and acted upon them by staging an intervention, Jackson’s fate may have been quite different.
SouthCoast Recovery, located in Orange County, California offers professional interventionists to aid family members in staging an intervention for loved ones struggling with all types substance abuse or addictions. An intervention is extremely beneficial in saving one’s life and the sooner, the better. Without an intervention, many people who have struggled with addiction or substance abuse would not be alive today, because they were blind to how seriously their problems where affecting the lives of everyone around them and their own lives. "When an Intervention takes place, it is a wake up call to everyone involved" says Krishna Jessick Program Director for SouthCoast Recovery, "After most people have gone through an intervention that led to their entrance into one SouthCoast Recovery's treatment programs, and have actually finished their treatment, they realize that they could have not only died from their addiction, but lost everything important to them as well."
