Montana and Wyoming Tribes Awarded Fed Grant to Combat Substance Abuse

Montana and Wyoming Tribes Awarded 5 million Substance Abuse Grant

Native American tribes in Montana and Wyoming received some good news today as the Federal Government awarded them with a $5 million grant to aid tribes with their current substance abuse problems. Native Americans have been dealing with an alcohol abuse problem amongst themselves for years and with the help of the grant money, new programs will be created to help Native Americans adjust to a new sober environment. Reports from both the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) indicate that alcoholism in Native Americans is over three times that of the greater population. Recent CDC and SAMHSA Studies also suggest that this problem on the reservations could be due to the stress of unemployment and living in a place where substance abuse amongst its residents is extraordinarily high.

SouthCoast Recovery, located in beautiful Orange County, California, is a certified AAIR (Access to American Indian Recovery program) care provider and offers several treatment options specially formatted for Native American and Alaskan Natives struggling with addiction. SouthCoast Recovery takes a holistic approach to recovery by providing services that adhere specifically to one’s mind, body and spirit; these services include acupuncture and massage therapy, as well as, sweat lodges, access to American Indian counselors, spiritual ceremonies and much more.

While this $5 million grant is a savior to Native American Tribes dealing with substance abuse in Montana and Wyoming, other places are still available to provide access to the same relief.  SouthCoast Recovery is available 24/7 to assist anyone going through the same struggles with addiction as those in Montana and Wyoming are currently dealing with and can help even more with those struggling with addiction because SouthCoast can provide an outlet from current conditions or situations, so that anyone can get far enough from where they are using to get clean.
