As Spring Break approaches, college students across America are predicted to visit many of the same places that have remained popular over the past 10 years. The top 3 projected destinations for Spring Break 2012 are; Panama City, Florida; South Padre Island, Texas and Cancun, Mexico.
College students from the Northwest and Mid- West are most likely to travel to Panama City, Florida which is deemed “the Spring Break Capital of the World.” Panama Beach is known for providing a variety of hotel accommodations from budget friendly- fun hotels to all- inclusive hotels. Panama Beach nightlife is hard to match and some of the confirmed artists who will perform at this year’s Spring Break include, Twista, Yelawolf, DJ Unk, Eric Church and Luke Bryan. There are also many other cities in florida that are big spring break destinations such as the beaches of Miami, bars and clubs in Daytona Beach and hotels in Ft. Lauderdale.
College students from the West are most likely to travel to Cancun where they will enjoy the sun, beach, and a loose drinking age where party- goers can enjoy the world famous- nightlife. In addition to non- stop partying Cancun also provides many fun activities for college students at discounted rates. Thrill seekers can take snorkeling cruises to the Punta Nizue reef, swim with the dolphins or ride four- wheelers.
About 50,000 spring break students are predicted to head to South Padre Island, Texas, this spring break and most of them will be from Southern states. South Padre Island is one of the cheapest Spring Break destination spots and although it’s an island it’s relatively easy to get there by car. Party goers will stay up and down the Texas coast from hotels in Houston, condos in Corpus Christi or campgrounds in South Padre. The Gulf of Mexico offers some of the best waves in the country and many spring breakers head there to surf, wind surf or participate in other water sports.
Other Spring Break destination places on the ride include Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Diego and Canada. The most popular spring break week is from March 15-19 and it is projected that more than 2 million college students will have a break from school. March 8-12 is projected to be the second busiest week. It is projected that the average college student will spend about $1100 on Spring Break in 2012.
