Kenny Roger Leads Tigers to 3-1 Lead over Cardinals tying series at 1 game a piece
The Detroit Tigers took game 2 of the World Series led by Kenny Rogers who hasn’t given up a run in 23 innings. The Tigers took an early 2-0 lead after 1 and added 1 in the 5th tying the series at a game a piece.
The Cards left 14 stranded while Detroit did their share of not bringing home the 20 they left on base. Left fielder Craig Monroe had his 5th homer of the post season while Carlos Guillen went 3 for 3 with 1 RBI. Sean Casey the DH had the other RBI for Detroit.
Rogers got the win over Jeff Weaver. Weaver pitched into the 5th giving up 9 hits and 3 earned runs. Weaver came into the game with a 2.16 era in the post season only to leave with a 5.40 after the loss tonight.
The Cards were limited to 4 hits. Rogers was spectacular again giving up 2 hits over 8 innings striking out 5.
Eckstein, Spiezio, Pujols,and Encarnacion were held hitless for a combined 0-14. Scott Rolen, Jim Edmonds and Molina were the only Cardinals to get hits.
Game 3 is in St. Louis Tuesday night October 24th. The scheduled pitchers are Robertson for Detroit and Carpenter for St. Louis.
