Chicago-area man charged in DUI crash that killed one

Chicago, IL- A Chicago area man has been charged after causing a fatal DUI accident that took the life of one man and left three others in critical condition.

Sam Cafi, 28, of Justice, was driving at a high rate of speed on 95th Avenue around 2 a.m. when he hit a vehicle that was traveling southbound on La Grange Ave., causing the vehicle to roll several times before it came to rest in the westbound lanes of 95th Avenue.

The only occupant of the car was taken to an Oak Lawn hospital in critical condition. Cafi had three passengers in his car who were also critically injured. Another passenger who was in the front seat was ejected and died from his injuries.

Witnesses told police that Cafi, exited the vehicle after the accident and stated that he had been drinking at a local bar with his passengers. He was given field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer, which showed he was intoxicated, and he will now need a Chicago drunk driving lawyer to help him with the resulting charges.
