Tour de France Update: Levi Leipheimer Forced to Withdraw Following Broken Wrist

The Tour de France lost one of its most aggressive riders on Friday as Levi Leipheimer was forced to withdraw from the race following a broken wrist he suffered in a crash at the end of Stage 12.

Leipheimer had been in fourth place heading into Friday’s Stage 13, trailing only Rinaldo Nocentini and Astana teammates Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong.

The accident occurred about 1.86 miles from the finish line on Thursday when Leipheimer and Cadel Evans got tangled.
