Pennsylvania woman killed in accident with tractor-trailer truck

An accident between a tractor-trailer truck and a SUV on I-80 resulted in the death of one woman and serious injury to another.

The accident took place just before noon Tuesday. Police said that a couple from Swiftwater was driving westbound on I-80 when the driver of a SUV, Joseph Terlizzi, 76, attempted to change lanes and struck the front passenger side of a trailer truck.

The driver of the truck, Baldev Singh, 46, tried to avoid contact with the vehicle and swerved, narrowly missing several vehicles before he crossed a grassy median and two eastbound lanes of the highway before coming to a rest on the shoulder. Singh was not injured.

On impact Terlizzi lost control of his SUV and rolled over several times before landing on the roof. Concetti Terlizzi, 77, who was a passenger, was pronounced dead on the scene. Joseph Terlizzi was seriously injured and was airlifted to the hospital.
