Monday Night Football Score: N.Y. Giants 36 Dallas Cowboys 22

The New York Giants defeated the Dallas Cowboys 36-22 Monday night and improved to 4-2 and took over first place in the NFC East. The loss dropped the Cowboys to 3-3 on the year.

Tiki Barber had another superb game rushing for 114 yards on 27 carries and added another 32 yards receiving.

The story of the game was the Giants defense, producing their second straight dominant performance. A week after sacking Atlanta quarterback Michael Vick seven times they got to Drew Bledsoe for four sacks and then Tony Romo twice. Michael Strahan recorded two sacks to equal Lawrence Taylor for the franchise record.

Giants defenders also picked off the Cowboys quarterback four times and held Dallas to 69 yards on the ground. While Bledsoe was largely ineffective during the first half, Tony Romo didn’t fair much better. His three interceptions stopped many key drives that could have brought the Cowboys back in the game.

Terrell Owens caught six passes for 98 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys loss.
