Walter Cronkite, the former CBS newscaster that became known as “the most trusted man in America,” has died at the age of 92 after a lengthy illness.
Cronkite’s name quickly became synonymous with news as his face and memorable voice entered millions of living rooms as the host of CBS’s evening news from 1962 to 1981. During Cronkite’s reign at CBS he delivered news on some of the most defining moments in U.S. history including the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the moon landing and the resignation of President Richard Nixon.
Cronkite died late Friday evening at his home in New York, he was surrounded by family when he passed away.
