Tour de France Update: Spectator Killed, Two Injured after Accident Involving Police Motorcycle

A spectator was killed and two more left injured after being hit by a police motorcycle during the Tour de France on Saturday.

According to reports a woman, believed to be in her 60s, was struck by the motorcycle as she tried to cross a road in the town of Wittelsheim while watching Stage 14 of the Tour de France. The police officer was thrown off the bike which then hurled into a crowd striking two more spectators.

It is the first fatality at the Tour de France since 2000 and 2002 when two children were struck and killed by cars that follow the riders.
