Due to the disqualification of Jermaine Jones this week on American Idol, Thursday’s elimination determined the top 10 contestants that will continue in the competition and participate in the Idols Live Tour this summer. Viewer’s votes put Elise Testone, Shannon Magrane and Erika Van Pelt in the bottom three.
"I'm not happy with the bottom three, especially when someone has a performance like Elise had last night. I don't think it's fair," Jennifer Lopez said.
Elise and Erika were declared safe, leaving 16-year-old Shannon to sing for the judge’s save. She performed Mariah Carey’s "One Sweet Day,” but Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler decided to not use the save.
"Thank you guys so much because you guys have been so loyal to me and so honest with me. I just want to say it feels so good standing on this stage,” Shannon said.
The teen spoke to Us Weekly magazine about her elimination after the show. “It's definitely upsetting knowing that you have come this far and it has to end here. But thinking about it, out of 121,000 people who auditioned for American Idol, I am in the top 11. So I am really proud of myself,” she said.
In addition to Elise and Erika, the top 10 includes Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ledet, Heejun Han, Colton Dixon, Jessica Sanchez, Hollie Cavanagh, Skyler Laine and Deandre Brackensick.
