Tractor-trailer truck driver injured after fiery blaze erupts

A truck driver has been seriously burned after an accident, which caused his truck, carrying hazardous materials, to erupt in a blaze early Friday morning on Interstate 70.

Police closed all eastbound lanes of I-70 while they worked on cleaning up the site, according to The Indianapolis Star.

Police said the accident occurred around 3 a.m. when the truck driver, Marcus Moore, 51, of St. Louis blew out a tire, causing him to lose control of his rig. Moore then hit the guardrail and continued riding along the rail for roughly 30 yards; he then hit an overhead interstate sign post. The impact of the crash with the sign post caused the tractor to erupt in a blaze.

The material in the truck was a highly toxic resin, which can cause respiratory problems to people exposed to it.

Moore was responsive when emergency crews arrived and was taken to a nearby hospital with serious burns.

Mechanical failure and tire blow outs can lead to serious injury or property damage. If a truck accident attorney finds that an accident can be attributed to another person’s carelessness or manufacturing defects, the injury victims can seek compensation.

Truck accident lawyers have the experience necessary to negotiate with insurance companies or file a lawsuit in order to obtain maximum compensation for the people they represent. Hiring a truck accident attorney is crucial to making certain people receive a favorable settlement for their accident.
