Mohammad Ajmal Amir Qasab, the leading suspect in last November’s deadly attacks in Mumbai, has changed his plea to guilty, admitting his guilt before the court on Monday.
In May Qasab pled not guilty to the attacks that left more than 170 dead and it is not clear why he changed his plea. Facing 86 charges ranging from waging war on India to murder, Qasab could be facing the death penalty if found guilty.
The 21-year-old Pakistani man spoke before the court, detailing the events that led up to the attacks including the people he had met, the type of training he received and the weapons that were used. Qasab then addressed the judge, saying “I request the court to accept my plea and pronounce the sentence.”
