Morgan & Morgan is pleased to announce that Christopher S. Polaszek and Peter Safirstein, formerly partners with Milberg LLP, have joined the firm. Mr. Polaszek and Mr. Safirstein bring to the firm a wealth of experience and are being warmly welcomed as the co-chairs of the firm’s newly founded securities and antitrust law department.
“The addition of Chris and Peter to Morgan & Morgan complements our national mass tort, consumer class action, commercial contingency and wage and hour class action sections,” said firm founder John Morgan. “When it comes to complex national class actions, these two gentlemen are as good as it gets. Our firm and our clients all benefit from their world class legal talents.”
Christopher Polaszek joins the firm after a successful career practicing complex commercial litigation and handling securities fraud class actions on behalf of defrauded investors. Mr. Polaszek has successfully litigated matters in courts around the country and has represented clients in numerous securities and commercial arbitrations conducted by the New York Stock Exchange, American Arbitration Association and National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. While at Milberg, Mr. Polaszek devoted significant time to counseling pension fund trustees about their fiduciary obligations.
“At Milberg, I worked on many cases which resulted in millions of dollars being rightfully returned to defrauded investors,” said Mr. Polaszek. “Joining Morgan & Morgan, with its strong mission statement and consumer-oriented focus, is a natural fit for me. I’m absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of a team which has also serviced thousands of injured consumers and continues its tireless efforts to helping the people, not the powerful.”
Prior to joining Milberg, Peter Safirstein served in the Enforcement Division of the United States Securities & Exchange Commission and the United States Attorneys’ Offices in both New York and Florida where he prosecuted white collar crime. While a partner at Milberg, Mr. Safirstein focused his practice on securities, antitrust and consumer class actions. He successfully represented investors in the massive litigation involving more than 300 initial public offerings as well as consumers against high-profile defendants such as Sirius-XM, McDonald’s and Toshiba. One of Mr. Safirstein’s legal achievements was in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals where he successfully represented Nigerian children who were allegedly victimized by improper medical experiments conducted by the pharmaceutical giant, Pfizer, involving the antibiotic Trovan.
“I’m not content to rely on my past successes,” said Mr. Safirstein. “I’m eager to get started and I look forward to helping the team at Morgan & Morgan assist others in their pursuit of justice.”
The trial attorneys at Morgan & Morgan are excited to have Mr. Safirstein and Mr. Polaszek as part of their growing team which also now includes Charlie Crist, former governor of Florida. As Attorney General of the State of Florida, Governor Crist vigorously prosecuted fraud cases in his efforts to fight for the people.
Just as the firm’s skilled team of attorneys continues to grow, so does its national presence. With offices throughout Florida and the Southeast, the firm will now establish a New York presence with the addition of Mr. Polaszek and Mr. Safirstein.
“Our team has always been dedicated to helping injured consumers across the country,” said Scott Weinstein, chairman of the firm’s consumer class action and mass tort department. “With Peter and Chris’ extensive experience, joined with the Business Litigation Group headed by Tucker Byrd and the Wage & Hour litigation section chaired by Richard Celler, the natural synergy among our litigation groups will help to continue to provide excellent recoveries for our clients.”
