One person is dead and ten others injured after semi-truck sets of chain reaction accident

One man is dead and ten others are injured after a multi-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in the northbound lanes of I-94 at Seven Mile Road. 

Racine County Sheriff’s office responded to accident which occurred around 1:30 p.m. When they arrived on the scene they found that six vehicles, including a semi-truck, three passenger cars and two pickup trucks were involved in the accident.

A preliminary investigation showed that traffic on I-94 had slowed down; one of the vehicles attempted to change from the right lane to the center lane and was hit by a semi-truck in the rear passenger side. The semi-truck driver then hit another vehicle, which was partially parked in the emergency lane and right lane. This set of a chain of accidents involving the other vehicles.

One man, who was sitting in the rear passenger side of the first car that was hit, died on the scene. The other occupants a 1 month-old child and three other adults sustained minor injuries.

When police arrived there were dozens of people roaming around the accident scene. No one has been issued citations for the accident.
