A shooting outside a Jewish school in Toulouse, France early Monday left four people dead and at least one person seriously injured. Prosecutor Michel Valet says the gunman pulled up in front of the Ozar Hatorah School on a black scooter and opened fire with a 9mm pistol and a .45 calibre weapon.
“The man initially used a 9mm pistol after riding up to the school on his moped. When this jammed he used a .45 calibre weapon, and chased pupils inside the school,” said Valet. "He shot at everything he had in front of him, children and adults.”
The suspect, who has tattoos on his face and may be a neo-Nazi, fled the scene on his scooter.
The dead includes 8-year-old Miriam Monsonego, the daughter of Ozar Hatorah headteacher Yaacov Monsonego; 30-year-old Yonatan Sandler, a rabbi; and Sandler’s two young sons, Aryeh and Gavriel. A 17-year-old student was seriously injured.
Investigators say Monday’s shooting may be linked to two shootings last week in Montauban and Toulouse. Both suspects in those shootings used a motorbike. Four paratroopers were killed.
