Tractor-trailer truck accident claims the life of Pennsylvania woman, critically injuring two children

Uniontown, PA- A woman was killed and two children were critically injured Wednesday after being struck by a tractor-trailer truck on Route 119 north.

The accident occurred around 12:15, when Christina Scott, 49, of Ebensburg pulled her car over in the right lane of Gallatin Ave, apparently to change one of the tires on her Pontiac Grand Prix.

A UPS tractor-trailer truck was also traveling in the right lane when, the driver, Thomas P. Burke,54,  of West Virginia slammed into Scott’s car, pinning her against it. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scott had two children in her car, a 2 year-old and a 1 ½ year-old, both boys. The children had to be extricated from the vehicle and were flown to a nearby hospital where they were listed in critical condition.  Police are unclear about the relationship between Scott and the two children.

The truck driver was not injured.

Truck accident attorneys too often see how quickly a life can be taken or forever changed after a collision with a commercial truck. When an injury victim or the family of person, who has been killed, hires a truck accident lawyer they can rest knowing that someone is working to make sure they get the money they need to pay their bills.

Victims of truck accidents incur many expenses related to funeral and medical costs, but with the assistance of a truck accident attorney they can fight to obtain compensation from a negligent or careless driver.
