After denying he was seeking treatment for addiction problems, Jersey Shore star Mike Sorrentino has admitted he is getting help for a “prescription medication problem.”
"I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion," Sorrentino wrote on his official website. "I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys."
In a statement released earlier this week, Sorrentino’s rep said the reality star was in a facility to rest. "He has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule," his rep said.
Sorrentino, aka The Situation, will soon begin filming the sixth season of Jersey Shore with castmates JWoww, Snooki, Vinny, Ronnie, Pauly D, Sammi Sweetheart and Deena Cortese. "The house dynamic is headed into unchartered territory as their lives outside of the 'Shore' take off in exciting new directions," MTV says of the new season. "While things will definitely be a little different this time when they hit the boardwalk, their trademark hilarity and family dysfunction will remain the same."
