Baseball player Matt Bush arrested for hit and run, DUI

Port Charlotte, FL- Former San Diego Padres player Matt Bush was arrested Thursday night in Florida for causing an accident with injuries and fleeing the scene.

According to Highway Patrol, Bush, who now plays for the Tampa Bay Rays, rear-ended a motorcyclist with his SUV. Bush then fled the scene.

A witness told WBBH-TV, “Literally, the tire on the SUV ran over the driver’s head. Without a helmet, the gentleman would have been dead instantly.”

The motorcyclist, Anthony Tufano, was taken to Peace River Regional Medical Center and was later air-lifted to Lee Memorial Hospital Trauma Center. His condition is not known.

Head injuries can be very debilitating, while the victims accrue costly medical care, but an accident attorney can make certain these individuals don’t have to pay these costs out of their own pockets.

Bush was apprehended in North Port. He has been arrested on suspicion of fleeing the scene of an accident involving serious injuries, driving with a suspended license, DUI with serious injuries and DUI with property damage.

Bush has had previous problem with the law in other alcohol-related incidents.

Intoxicated drivers who injure other are clearly negligent and an accident lawyer will work to hold these drivers accountable for the pain they cause to others. Injury victims are urged to contact an experienced accident attorney immediately after their accident to begin collecting evidence and developing a case in order to get the maximum amount of compensation they are eligible for.
