Three people have died and three people incurred injuries following an accident involving a dump truck and a logging truck early Monday morning on U.S. 60 in Powhatan County, Virginia. State police said that a total of five trucks were involved in the accident.
According to Virginia State Police a dump truck carrying sludge crossed the center line of U.S. 60 around 5:13 a.m. and hit a logging truck loaded with pine logs head on. The impact of the crash caused the logging truck to overturn and erupt into a fiery blaze.
Two other logging trucks following the truck that was hit head on, along with another sludge truck were also involved in the accident.
Two people in the logging truck and the sludge truck driver were killed on the scene. Two others involved in the accident were taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries and another driver had minor injuries.
Police are still trying to determine what caused the first truck to cross the center line.
