Comedian Eddie Griffin finalizes divorce to third wife

Just six months after marrying his third wife, actor and comedian Eddie Griffin has finalized his divorce.

Griffin married Nia Rivers in a Las Vegas ceremony last September. Just one month after their quickie marriage the couple decided to hire divorce attorneys and separate due to “irreconcilable differences,” according to the court documents obtained by TMZ.

Rivers and Griffin agreed to share custody of their two year-old son King Eddie Griffin. The documents state that Griffin has also agreed to pay $2,500 a month in child support.

This is the third time Griffin has needed the assistance of a divorce lawyer. The comedian was first married at the age of 16 to a woman named Carla, which lasted only a year. He avoided marriage for nine years until he married Rochelle in 2002.

Griffin reportedly has a total of nine children.

Divorces among people who have been married more than once are more common, and a third marriage is statistically likely to end in divorce. Close to 73 percent of third marriages end in divorce.

Whether a person is getting a divorce for their first or third time, they will need to hire an accomplished divorce attorney. With their help the divorcing parties will be able to settle the division of marital assets and determine the custody of any children. The couple can reach an agreement either through a settlement or litigation.
