5 Drug Treatment Centers And Still Not Sober

When has Drug Treatment failed?

It can be said that recovery from addiction is a marathon, not a sprint. Recovery takes time, and often it takes more than one stint in a drug treatment center to be successful in addiction recovery. Drug addiction is a disease, and although treatment is readily available, it is not always possible to achieve on the first try. Every addict is an individual, and the way they respond to their time at a drug treatment center will influence whether one drug treatment center will be all it takes to achieve sobriety.

An addict should not be discouraged if their attempts at addiction recovery have slowed to a crawl. As long as an addict has the desire to make a positive and permanent change in their life, their chances of restoring their physical and emotional health are greatly increased. The important thing is to choose a drug treatment center that will meet your unique personal needs and help you to reach your goal. Committing oneself to a drug treatment program is critical.

Drug treatment centers want to see every addict that comes through their doors succeed at addiction recovery. While no drug treatment center pretends that addiction recovery is easy, or without significant challenges, they are in the business of providing encouragement and support to addicts in their care and reassuring them that they can achieve what will seem to be impossible.

Recovery is a process not a destination.  Along the way there may be difficulties to overcome as well as unexpected setbacks.  Some people may take longer to grab hold of the help that is offered to them at drug treatment centers.  Reaching a bottom is absolutely necessary before an addict or alcoholic is willing to get help.  Sometimes well meaning families get in the way by sheltering the addict from the consequences of his or her actions.  Drug treatment is really the only help that should be offered consistently.  No drug treatment center is going to sugarcoat the reality of addiction recovery.  The key is to offer a solution but not enable the problem.
